Description
A small African American boy walks through the door of a poor humble shack where he looks at an empty rocking chair in front of a window. In painting it I was thinking that the boy is looking at his grandpa's favorite chair, but grandpa is no longer there. So, it becomes a symbol of melancholy, mourning and loss. It also carries an undercurrent of wonder and curiosity.
